Rye House GNC / Club final Round 2012

BOASTIE BAGS THE FINAL ROUND

Pete Boast found his winning form in time the season finale at Ryehouse Stadium on Sunday, where a great day's racing was enjoyed by all. Aidan Collins had secured the championship at the previous round, leaving the way clear to battle for the remaining spots at the top, and battle they did..... Semi 1 of the GNC Open class saw Tom Woolley (just back from competing in America) lead from start to finish, hotly persued by Boast, Pocklington and Tom Neave, with Woolley and Boast earning front row starts for the final. Tim Neave in his first meeting since returning from injury, was the clear winner of Semi 2, from Darren Trapmore, Birtwistle and Derek Brindley, with the first two home also gaining front row grids for the final. The top five riders from each semi, plus the top two from the last chance progressed to the final, with a valient effort from Trappy just missing out on the final tranfer spot. In the GNC Grand Final Pete Boast, Darren Trapmore, Tim Neave and Tom Woolley all made great starts from the front row but on the first bend Woolley went wide, allowing Tom Neave through to join the front group, Woolley now followed by Birtwistle, Pocklington and Brindley. By lap 3 Tom Neave had made his way through to second behind Boastie and by lap 4, brother Tim was in third, followed by Woolley, Trapmore and Birty. On lap 9 Tim Neave passed Tom Neave for second, with Tom Woolley still battling for his chance to get up to the front, which he did on lap 13 by passing Tom Neave for third. Not having that, Neave repassed Woolley and as the battled continued to the end, Woolley fell on the last corner, scotching his hope of a podium finish. The win went to Boast, from his Suzuki team mate Tim Neave and Tom Neave on the TCR Aprilia (not sure what's in the water at Saxby, the tiny village where all three live but it's doing the job! ). A fine 4th place went to Darren Trapmore on the TCR KTM, 5th to Yamaha mounted Alan Birtwistle with Glyn Pocklington's team Aprilia rounding out the top six. The remainder of the field comprised 'R' plate riders Guy Sutherland, Paul Baleta, Vince Hurst and David Homan, all putting in fantastic performances in the final.

COME BACK TIM TAKES THUNDERBIKE FINAL

The Thunder Bike Final got off to an unnerving start, with first bend bunching resulting in a four rider pile up. Dramatic though it appeared, after a few minutes out to mend bikes and get their breath back, all riders lined up for a full re-start. Championship winner Neil Martin took an early lead, soon to be overtaken by young Tim Neave, with Martin followed by Alan Birtwistle, Dave Chadburn, Anthony Brown and Paul Baleta. As the laps wound down, Neave stretched his lead and Brown and Baleta passed Chadburn. As Neave took the flag in great style, he was followed home by Martin's CC Engineering 600Yamaha, Birtwistle, Brown and Baleta, with Co-Built mounted Geoff Cain taking sixth place.

Nobody could take Neil Martin's Thunderbike Championship from him on Sunday but by winning on the day Tim Neave leapfrogged Anthony Brown for second, with Brown third.

Silvester Closes Championship Gap All the riders in the Arrow Engneering Youth Class put in some fantastic performances throughout the day, with the top three riders each taking a win in the heats. Oliver Brindley took a fall in the first heat finishing last, meaning that when the double point final came around there was everything to ride for, with only six points between the top four riders. With handlebar bashing a plenty and with more determination than horsepower, Bridley tried his best to get past Aaron Silvester who lead with great style from start to finish but Oliver had to settle for second in the race and overall points.

Well done to all the riders who have progressed and impressed this year.
